Provence-Cote-d'azur is bordered by Italy to the east, the
Mediterranean and Monaco to the south and by the River Rhone and
Languedoc-Roussillon on the west.
The Legend has it that after God created
the earth, the sun, the mountains and the sea to shape our world, what was left
was used to create a paradise: Provence-Côte d'Azur , this paradise stretched
from the summits of the Alps and the blue of the Mediterranean sea.
With
900km. of beaches, the Camargue marshes with its wild life and horses and the
many inlets and marinas, not to mention those resorts who’s names alone conjure
up a picture of an elegant life style.
The 27,000km² of mountains with snowy
peaks, the olive groves and lavender fields, forests and pine groves all awash
in sunlight for this is Frances sunniest region with 2500 to 3000 hours of
sunshine a year.
Côte d'Azur, the famous French Riviera which stretches from
Hyères to Menton is set up to receive a large and rather affluent tourist
clientele.
Provence is both relaxed picturesque villages in the hills and
busy cities like
Nice and Marseille, but there are also the famous vineyards
of Côtes du Rhône and Côtes de Provence
The Alpes d'Azur rise high above
Nice up to 4000m, here the air is clean and pure, these are protected
lands, where one goes skiing in winter and hiking or cycling or horse riding in
summer all with clear sunny skies, with sports like parachute jumping,
flying ultra lightweights, rafting, abseiling or mountain climbing for the more
adventurous.
