The Nord pas
de Calais Region of France in somewhere that most visitors to France just pass
through, from one of the busy channel ports to their destination, but this area
has a lot to offer. It is a region of landscape contrasts from the long coast
line where the 120kms of sandy beaches of the Cote d'Opale have a many pretty
villages as well as the three major ports of Dunkerque, boulogne and Calais.
There are also the enormous cliffs at "le Grand Site National des Caps" with
their two huge cliffs overhanging the Channel, to the rolling hills dotted with
windmills, wide open spaces with gentle meadows, marshes, woods and forests.
There is a vast network of canals and waterways ideal for all types of
boating.
The Region is bordered by Belgium, the English Channel with the
Picardy Region to the west and south.
