Bordering Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg in the north east corner of France with the Departments of Franche-Compte to the south, Alsace to the east and Champagne-Ardenne to the west. The area is popular with walkers, cyclists and lovers of nature, with the Vosges mountaines in the east and rolling hills, wooded valleys and rich farming land towards the west with the meandering rivers of Moselle and Meuse together with wonderful medieval towns and villages make Lorraine an ideal area for holidaying.

Nancy  a university city with the great place Stanislas in the old quarter well worth a visit.
Verdun, an ideal base to visit the battlefields,memorials and cemeteries of both of the great wars.
Domremy-la-Pucelle, visit the house were Joan of Arc was born;
Chateau Luneville, a replica of the palace de Versaille, albeit on a smaller scale.

The Lorraine region has some of the best of water sports, from windsurfing to boating of all sorts, it has over 700km of navigatable waterways including the Marne-Rhine canal and the Saint-Louis-Arzviller boat lift which connects the Lorraine with Alsace. There are the great open waters of Gondrexange, Madine, Stock and Rardmer.

The Minerals and salts of the Vosges region result in mineral springs with a reputation of healing powers dating back to ancient times.
