The Centre
region is dominated by the Loire valley. The River Loire, France's longest
river, 1020kms which flows east to west starting in the mountains just south of
St.Etienne and enteres the Atlantic in the Loire atlantique department.
The
Loire has many tributaries including, Indre,Cher, Beuvron, Sauldre, Allier,
Sevre, Erdre, Eure, Layon, Loir, loiret, Saribe and Sologne
The highest piont
is Mount St.Marien in the Cher Department
The Centre region is famous not
only for it's chateaux, but for it's medieval and renaissance
achitechture. Two of France's finest gothic cathedrals are at Chartres and Bourges. Also of note is the cathral at Tours
